The Texans-Packers trade for Key Receiver that makes sense

As Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien continues to tear down the team, the Green Bay Packers should look to collect the scraps.

After pairing quarterback Deshaun Watson with DeAndre Hopkins, O’Brien traded away the star receiver for David Johnson, and then traded for Rams’ receiver Brandin Cooks. With Cooks, Will Fuller, and Randall Cobb as the main setup, that leaves room for what is left of Kenny Stills’ career.

Stills is likely the odd man out, but he would be a decent No. 2 or No. 3 option alongside Devante Adams.

The Packers would have to find a little bit of salary relief to make the deal. Stills is in the final year of his four-year, $32 million deal he signed with Miami. The Packers could send offensive lineman Lane Taylor, who became expendable after losing his starting job to Elgton Jenkins. The team could also throw in a sixth-round pick as added compensation.

Taylor has made 45 starts in three years, but missed the majority of last season with a bicep injury. In 2018, ProFootballFocus ranked him as one of the last producing guards, allowing eight sacks and 36 pressures.

This is the final season of his contract and could be replaced by a second or third-round pick. He would cost the Packers just $1.3 million in dead money, but the team  would rather gain a return and lose him for nothing.

Meanwhile, Stills finished last season with 40 receptions for 561 yards and four touchdowns. He would take some pressure off Adams, and give Aaron Rodgers another veteran target.

The trade makes sense, which means O’Brien probably won’t make the trade because it makes sense.
