The Cowboys will be shorthanded in tight ends during their next stretch. They declared that Blake Jarwin was moved to IR on Saturday. This will leave the veteran out of at least three games.
Jarwin has a hip injury. Jarwin did not practice this week. Jarwin has been a consistent presence at the position for the Cowboys, with Dalton Schultz completing the tight end duo.
Jarwin was resigned by Dallas to a $42M, four-year deal in 2020, but he was unable to return from the September 2017 ACL tear. Schultz will take over as Dallas’ top tight end receiver, his contract expiring at the end of the season. Jarwin still plays 50% of Cowboys’ offensive snaps. He has 10 receptions for 90 yards this season and two touchdowns.
Pro Football Focus ranked Jarwin and Schultz among the best run-blocking tight ends this season. Ex-Washington cog Jeremy Sprinkle, and second-year UDFA Sean McKeon are also available for the position.
The NFC East leaders remained inactive for another week, leaving Michael Gallup in IR. Gallup can be activated by the Cowboys until November 15th, after he opened his return window almost two weeks ago. Gallup has been active since Week 1 when he was injured in the calf. The Cowboys promoted defensive tackle Justin Hamilton, and activated linebacker Francis Bernard via IR.
