The Dallas Cowboys’ defense received a major hit.
Mike McCarthy, Cowboys’ head coach, announced Thursday that Randy Gregory, the Cowboys’ star pass rusher will be absent for several weeks.
Gregory, who is arguably the Cowboys’ most valuable defensive player, was injured in his calf during practice Wednesday. Gregory will likely miss several weeks with a possible stint on the IR.
“Mike McCarthy stated that Randy Gregory will be out for several weeks due to a calf strain that he sustained in Wednesday’s practice. He could be placed on IR, which would mean he misses three games,” tweeted Todd Archer, an ESPN Cowboys reporter.

This is a huge blow to a Cowboys’ defense that has performed much better than expected during most of the 2021 season.
Dallas already had DeMarcus Lawrence injured. Gregory is now gone from the Cowboys.
Micah Parsons, the first round pick, will likely play a more pass-rusher role.
