According to reports, a Dallas Cowboys senior assistant coach has been selected for a head coaching job in college football.
According to Tom Pelissero (NFL Network insider), George Edwards, Cowboys senior assistant coach, has been named as a candidate to the Duke Blue Devils head coach position.
Duke parted ways earlier this year with Dave Cutcliffe, his long-time head coach. Edwards was a four year letterman for the Blue Devils.
“Cowboys senior defensive assistant George Edwards has emerged as a candidate for the head coaching job at his alma mater Duke University, sources say. Edwards was a four-year letterman for the Blue Devils, who parted ways with David Cutcliffe last month,” Pelissero reports.

In recent years, the Cowboys had several key assistant coaches who were connected to college jobs. Kellen Moore was a favorite candidate for some vacancies but he chose to stay with the NFL.
Dallas is currently 8-4 in the season going into Sunday’s match against Washington.
