Jerry Jones Addresses The Cowboys’ Run Game Struggles

The Dallas Cowboys should have Terence Steele, an offensive lineman, back from the Reserve/COVID-19 roster this week. Jerry Jones hopes it will boost the team’s running game.

Lately, the Cowboys’ normally reliable rushing attack has been a little sluggish. Dallas managed just 58 yards in total on its 19 carries, minus Tony Pollard’s touchdown run of 58 yards and CeeDee Lamb’s 33-yard run.

Pollard and Ezekiel Elliot have combined for just 201 yards in the three previous games. Jones believes Steele could increase those numbers.

Today’s Cowboys owner spoke to  105.3 The Fan, said that he does not know if Steele or La’El Collins will be starting at right tackle, but that both will play. Anybody not on the first team tackle will be used to play tight end jumbo.

Jones stated that it was “the best we have been all year”, via Mark Lane at WFAA. You’ve got a better Collins. We know and trust that Steele can play at the correct tackle. He just needs to play well there. We will take advantage of the fact that Collins is at his best this season by doing so. We got Steele. That will be one of our ways to improve our running game. That is what we will do. This allows us to do something different from other formations. We’ll have a bigger guy in than you would normally have. This will be a great help.”

Although it’s odd to hear an owner talk about Xs and os in public, Jerry Jones can help. This seems sensible considering Dallas already has the required depth.

Prescott’s performance is crucial if the Cowboys want to go deep in the playoffs. If you can’t throw, you won’t win the NFL today-unless you were the Patriots in Buffalo last night.

Dallas will need to be able to rely on its rushing ability in the postseason in order to relieve some of the pressure and keep the clock ticking in certain situations.
