Despite receiving head coaching interviews offers, Dallas Cowboys defensive Coordinator Dan Quinn declined the offer to return to Dallas.
Quinn spoke with CowboysSI.com in his first interview since the offseason and explained why he was returning. Quinn stated that he believes they can achieve their goal together and feels he has unfinished business in Dallas.
“I have unfinished business here,” Quinn said. “We have the right people in place to accomplish the things everyone in this building is working to accomplish. We’re doing that right now. We’re doing it today – grinding toward a goal.”
Quinn stated that he is happy living in Dallas. Quinn stated that while he wasn’t always happy in his previous places, he is happy now.
Quinn stated, “I want my feet to be right there,” “But that doesn’t mean I’ve always been completely happy where my feet are. “I’m happy here.”

Dan Quinn just completed a very successful first season in Dallas, where he completely transformed the defense. The Cowboys gave up a record 473 points in 2020, and now allow only 358 in 2021, which is seventh in the league.
Rumors circulated that Quinn wanted to be the Denver Broncos’ head coach. Quinn returned to Dallas shortly after Nathaniel Hackett was hired as the Broncos’ head coach.
Quinn may not have the same success next season, and if the Cowboys’ defense fails to improve, Quinn may not be offered a head coaching position. Quinn took a huge gamble by returning to Dallas.
