The Dallas Cowboys may have an open competition for kicker during the offseason. They already have Greg Zuerlein, but Chris Naggar has been signed to a futures contract.
Naggar, a SMU graduate, made 17 out of 21 field goal attempts during his last college season. He also attempted 43 of 46 extra points.
Naggar was a rookie NFL player and spent his time with the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns during Naggar’s first season. He was not able to find his feet.
Perhaps this opportunity with the Cowboys could be exactly what Naggar is looking for.

Zuerlein was a solid performer, scoring 82.9 percent of his Cowboys field goals. He is growing older.
Zuerlein, 34 years old is not as good as he was when he played for the Los Angeles Rams.
The Cowboys can let Zuerlein go even though he is still under contract for the 2022 season. There would be a $333 334 dead cap charge for Zuerlein’s release.
Before the Cowboys consider moving on from Zuerlein they will likely want to see if Naggar can beat him in a kicking contest.
