The Las Vegas Raiders had the best position in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Their top-heavy draft picks will likely cost these NFL veterans. The Raiders had two picks in the first round, and three picks in the third round. All in all, five quality players were added to the roster.
For that, these three veterans could be in trouble.
Zay Jones-Wide Receiver
This was the deepest class at wide receiver and the Raiders owned the No. 12 overall pick. They were in prime position to take Henry Ruggs III. Jones hasn’t flashed during his time in Oakland. His salary is non-guaranteed and carries $0 in dead money.
Gabe Jackson-Offensive Guard
The Raiders are already reportedly shopping Jackson. His play has been solid, but he is in the middle of a five-year, $55 million contract. The Raiders used a fourth-round pick on Clemson guard John Simpson, who has potential to start in Year 1. If Jackson is not traded, he could be let go to save whatever money the team can save.
Marquel Jones-Linebacker
The Raiders improved the linebacker position significantly through the offseason. The additions of Cory Littleton and Nick Kwiatkowski make Jones more expendable. Not to mention, the Raiders own the No. 20 overall pick, which could also be used on a linebacker. If that’s the case, the Raiders could cut Lee, who is entering the final year of his deal.
Deshon Kizer-Quarterback
Even though the Raiders didn’t select a quarterback, there’s plenty of reason to believe that Kizer is still gone. Derek Carr and Marcus Mariotta are running the show and that leaves Kizer very little playing time. The former Notre Dame quarterback can likely kiss his roster spot goodbye.
