Fans took to Twitter to express their frustration about the Dallas Cowboys signing Andy Dalton..
However, their frustration was directed at Dak Prescott.
Fans across the globe called Dalton the “new QB1” and ripped Prescott. There are surely hurt feelings that Prescott has not signed his franchise tender yet.
The Cowboys Executive Vice President made an appearance on SportsCenter and gave an update on Prescott’s contract situation. In March, the Cowboys used the exclusive franchise tag on their quarterback, paying him $31 million for this upcoming season.
In the interview, Jones acknowledged that the Cowboys need to have enough space to surround him with great football players, but also said he believes the organization will get Dak signed happily.

“…We believe in our track record of getting players signed,” Jones said. “I totally believe we’ll get Dak signed at the right number that’s good for Dak, good for the Cowboys, good for the team… So we’re all motivated, we’re all motivated to win. We certainly want Dak to be happy, but we also want to surround him with great football players.”
Prescott is a former fourth-round pick from the 2016 NFL Draft. He took the starting job in 2016 over Tony Romo and led the Cowboys to an NFC East title. He has started in all 64 games and is coming off a season where he threw for over 4,900 yards.
However, Prescott’s job seems perfectly fine.

According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, Dalton’s signing doesn’t mean much for Dak Prescott, and his addition is just as an insurance policy.
“Interesting signing to secure a top backup. But… before anyone asks, #Cowboys source says this has nothing to do with Dak Prescott. This is just about Dalton wanting to be back in Dallas and the #Cowboys wanting a strong option in case of injury. Simple.”
Dalton is a three-time Pro Bowler that threw for a career-high 33 touchdown passes in 2013. If quarterback Dak Prescott were to miss any time, the team would be in good hands. The Cowboys originally had Cooper Rush as the team’s backup, but now the team can feel confident all throughout the season.
