Although the Dallas Cowboys made some major offseason moves, there is still much to do. Dalton Schultz, a star tight end, is due to receive a new contract . However it doesn’t appear that the team is ready to make the payment. According to Michael Gelhken the Cowboys are stuck in contract negotiations with Schultz. The Cowboys will have to reach an agreement with Schultz by July 15, or he will play the 2022 season with the tag of $10.93 million.
Cowboys fans believe Schultz deserves a new contract because of his performance on the field and as a leader in his locker room. His teammates often speak highly of him and he has been a key weapon for Dak Prescott over the years.
Cowboys and TE Dalton Schultz are not close on an extension. Despite his career being emblematic of the franchise's draft-and-develop "lifeline," Schultz may have to wait for the long-term contract he's earned. https://t.co/Ywis2FOJnX

Although Schultz was not signed to an extension by the Cowboys at the beginning of the offseason they did place him under the franchise tag. Although Schultz may prefer to avoid it, the Cowboys have the option of signing him to a franchise deal for $13 million in 2023.
Schultz will be signing a new contract in 2022. He will also be trying to improve on his 2021 season. In his fourth season in NFL, Schultz recorded career-highs of 78 receptions and 808 yards. He’s a former fourth-round selection and has really come into his own these past two years. Now, he hopes the Cowboys will extend his contract.
