The Dallas Cowboys traded Amari Cooper, a Pro Bowl wideout, to the Cleveland Browns. This was a major change in their receiving staff.
Cooper has been removed from the Cowboys roster. CeeDee Lamb, third-year wide receiver, will take over the responsibility.
Lamb shared his initial reaction to Cooper being traded by the Cowboys during a appearance on Mike Silver’s podcast, Open Mike.
“I was actually in the gym. I saw it. It was on TV. I was working out in Fort Lauderdale in my offseason program, and I saw it on TV, and I was like, ‘Wow, that’s crazy,'” Lamb said, via NFL.com. “And then my phone started blowing up literally minutes after. It’s been a crazy story ever since.”
Lamb shared his thoughts about becoming the undisputed No. The Cowboys’ No. 1 wide receiver.
It’s too much to take in. He said that although it happened very quickly, he felt like this was a situation he was ready to accept. Although I hold myself to a high standard, it’s clear that at the moment there is nothing you can do but go for it. This is the energy that I have.
Lamb had 79 catches last season for 1,102 yards and six touchdowns. He also ran nine times for 76 yards. Cowboys hope Lamb will post better numbers in the fall.
