The Kansas City Chiefs have just returned from strong playoff run. They’ve seen a lot of changes in the offseason. The Chiefs need to see a few of their players perform beyond their expectations in order to maintain their high success rate. Last year, Nick Bolton, a rookie linebacker, was a solid starter. Bolton quickly became one of Kansas City’s best defensive players. Skyy Moore, a rookie wide receiver, is one of the most promising on the roster. There are many other potential breakout players on this roster.
It is surprising that Moore was drafted in the second round of this draft. Analysts had predicted that Moore would be selected in the middle of the first round. Moore was a highly-regarded prospect for many reasons. Moore’s speed, play strength and above-average route running will all make him a top NFL prospect. His three-year college career was solid, so it is likely that Moore will be able to adjust quickly to the NFL.

Moore’s position weakness is one of the main reasons he will be an X-factor. The Chiefs have traded away Tyreek Hills, thereby denying themselves their best wide receiver . The list of names who are expected to replace him is far from inspiring. JuJu Smith Schuster hasn’t had a great season since 2018, when he was with the Steelers. He’s coming off a season where injuries kept him from playing in five games.
Although Mecole Hardman has been with Chiefs for some time, he has never been more than a speed threat. Hardman did not earn a spot in the starting lineup for three seasons in Kansas City and also failed to exceed 700 yards receiving.
Marquez Valdez–Scantling is the last player, who was heavily overpaid by the Chiefs in the offseason. He was a member of the Green Bay Packers for four seasons, which is one of the most successful passing offenses in all the NFL. The wide receiver position was also very competitive. Despite these factors, Valdez-Scantling did not surpass 700 yards in any one season. Despite the lack of competition, he failed to crack the starting line-up consistently.
Moore should not have any trouble getting the snaps that he needs to prove his worth. Smith-Schuster is likely to be injured. Hardman and Valdez-Scantling were never able to keep a job as a starter. Moore is the Kansas City’s first wide receiver. Moore should be in the Kansas City starting lineup by Week 5. He will command a large target share.
Travis Kelce, a tight end, is the only player that is certain to surpass Moore. Moore will be the Kansas City’s second-largest target share by the end his rookie season. This should result in a lot of statistical success since the Chiefs have one of the highest pass-heavy teams in the NFL. As the 2022 season nears, Moore is clearly the Chiefs’ X factor.
