The Dallas Cowboys signed an ex-Texas Longhorns player on Thursday afternoon.
NFL Insider Mike Fisher confirmed that Malik Jefferson, a former star linebacker, will be signing a new contract with the Cowboys. He shared why this is such an important moment for him.
“I’ve been in a few situations in the NFL, but this has a chance to be a special one for me,” Jefferson tells CowboysSI.com. “My full focus is on football. I know some of the guys here already and I think I can contribute.”

Jefferson was a 2018 third-round selection by the Cincinnati Bengals. He has since floated around the NFL. In the last four seasons, he has played for five different teams.
He’s now ready to do anything to stay with the Cowboys.
Jefferson says, “Wherever they want to me to fit in that’s what it’s going to be,”. It’s great to play for my local team. My sole focus will be football. Dallas has given me this opportunity, and I will do my best to make the most of it.
Dallas has one of the most impressive linebacker rooms in all of football. Jefferson’s addition will only enhance that depth.
