2 hidden gems on the Kansas City Chiefs roster in 2022

The Kansas City Chiefs have an impressive roster but these two studs could be the star of the next season.

The 2022 Kansas City Chiefs season will be a highlight for Chiefs fans. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the most prominent, as well as tight end Travis Kelce. We also eagerly await the development of young stars such as Trey Smith, Creed Humphrey, and Nick Bolton as offensive linemen. The Chiefs’ fans are not wrong to be excited.

There are many players who could be important members of the 2022 squad, but they don’t get enough attention . This roster seems to have a few very productive players. These men aren’t often regarded as potential contributors. Let’s now see who these hidden gems really are.

Chiefs Hidden Gems On 2022 Roster

2. Andrew Wylie

Andrew Wylie is not the most well-known player on either side of the field. Although he’s very competent at his current position, he could be promoted to right tackle in Week 1.

Many teams have missed the offensive lineman in his sixth season. He is however entering this season with a lot of things to prove.

Wylie was forced to take the right tackle spot by the Chiefs in 2020 after he had spent his first two seasons at Kansas City’s right guard. He was the snap leader for the team in 2021 and played every game except one starting from Week 10.

Wylie was able to hold his own against very tough opponents during that time. Maxx Crosby, a left-handed defensive end for Las Vegas Raiders failed to score a sack in either of the contests. T.J. Watt was a defensive end with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played mostly over Wylie and did not register a sack.

Wylie’s extensive experience in the system will be evident. With so many new faces in the coming season, Wylie gives QB Mahomes protection and stability.

1. Rashad Fenton

Rashad Fenton, a defensive player to watch, is another. He may be challenged by Trent McDuffie, the first round pick. McDuffie could expect Fenton to play cornerback. Fenton should be the one to take on this challenge. Rashad Fenton shouldn’t get lost amid all the personnel changes in Chiefs’ secondary.

Fenton’s health is the problem. Fenton started as an outside cornerback for the club in the past two seasons. His health has fluctuated between the two seasons. He has been a valuable player in the defense of their passing offenses when he is healthy. He did not allow one touchdown in the regular season of 2021.

Fenton had shoulder surgery in the offseason. He is currently healing. McDuffie, a youngster, could take over the starting position when Fenton is ready to return to play.

Fenton is almost certain to be expecting, considering the $40.5 million, three-year contract that Charvarius Ward, former Chiefs cornerback, signed this year. However, he is approaching a contract year. Fenton is determined to make it work before he enters the market in 2023. We can all hope that he will be at his best during the 2022 NFL season.
