The Dallas Cowboys are officially in training camp and have decided to increase the depth of their receiving corps.
According to Mike Fisher from Cowboys Country the team signed USFL star KaVontae Turpin.
Turpin visited The Cowboys last week to take part in a tryout. The Cowboys were impressed with his potential and offered him a contract.
Turpin’s first year with the USFL saw him have 53 receptions and 540 yards. For the New Jersey Generals, he also ran for 129 yards and scored six all-purpose touchdowns.
Turpin was so productive, he was named MVP of the USFL. He’ll now have a chance to be on the final roster of ‘America’s Team.

The Cowboys’ receiving team already has some notable names like CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup. Mike McCarthy’s offense cannot have too many weapons.
Turpin will not be just competing for a place on the depth chart as a wide receiver; he will also try to establish himself on special team.
Lamb is the Cowboys’ punt returner for Week 1. They could let Turpin take over the job instead of risking injury for their star wideout.
