One word used by Andy Dalton to describe Cowboys’ Super Bowl run
Andy Dalton has never been close to a Super Bowl.
As he opens as the Dallas Cowboys backup quarterback, he knows that this team has the talent to make a run even if he sits on the sidelines. When asked about the team’s chances to win it all, he only needed one word.
“Realistic.”
When talking to reporters, Dalton elaborated on the team’s chances of winning their first Super Bowl since 1996.
“The roster is so talented. From top to bottom, there’s talent everywhere,” Dalton told Sports Illustrated. “I think I saw something [that we have] 16 Pro Bowlers on this team. We have high expectations, and we should. That’s the thing right now; it’s training camp, everybody’s expectation is to win a Super Bowl. But we feel like we have a realistic shot at that and we’re going to do everything we can to get there.”
The Super Bowl or bust campaign will begin on Sunday, September 13th against the Los Angeles Rams.
Dalton opens as the backup to Dak Prescott after a nine-year career with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Dalton is a three-time Pro Bowler that threw for a career-high 33 touchdown passes in 2013. If quarterback Dak Prescott were to miss any time, the team would be in good hands. The Cowboys originally had Cooper Rush as the team’s backup, but now the team can feel confident all throughout the season.
Dalton has a chance to make up to $7 million one his one-year contract.
