Some people are skeptical that the Dallas Cowboys will be NFC East champions again and make it to the playoffs. Dak Prescott is determined to prove anyone wrong.
“Where we are right now, it’s all excitement. It is,” Prescott said, per ESPN’s Todd Archer. “It’s truly a privilege to be the quarterback of this team, to be a leader of these guys, offense, defense, this coaching staff that we have. And yeah, especially with everything being said about us — you know what I mean? — the lack of what we have, keep writing, keep talking. We’re ready to go play.”
Prescott, who had suffered an ankle injury, led the Cowboys to a 12-5 record with the NFL’s highest total yards and points. Prescott, 29, is setting a high bar for himself in 2022.

“I believe high expectations create higher results,” Prescott said. “I feel like I’m my biggest critic. I’m tough on myself. I’m always going to hold myself to extreme, super-high expectations, higher than I think anyone else can. When you feel other people have those expectations for you as well, it’s fun.”
The Cowboys will be looking to become the first division champions to win back-to-back titles since the Philadelphia Eagles won the title four times consecutively from 2001 to 2004. It’s not certain that America’s Team will succeed.
Dallas traded Amari Cooper, a star wide receiver, to the Cleveland Browns. Randy Gregory, a pass-rusher, was then able to leave Dallas to join the Denver Broncos. The offensive line, which already lost Connor Williams to free agency and La’el Collins, will start the season without Tyron Smith as left tackle. Smith was injured in a knee accident.
Prescott and Co. are in a position to make a big statement right out of the gate. The Cowboys will open their season hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers , before taking on the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2.
