The Dallas Cowboys will be without Dak Prescott, despite the fact that the timetable is uncertain.
During Week 1, the star quarterback broke his right throwing thumb. Prescott was originally expected to miss six to eight weeks. Jerry Jones said that Prescott will not be placed on the injured reserve.
A trade with the Cowboys seems unlikely, as Prescott is expected to return within the next four games.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported the Cowboys have no plans to make a significant trade for a replacement quarterback. But, it could all depend on Prescott’s status and they aren’t completely ignoring any possibilities.

This is in line with Jones’ comments to 105.3 The fan on Tuesday morning’s radio interview. Cooper Rush and Will Grier are the current team’s quarterbacks.

“Those guys know the offense well, have had a lot of reps in it, and consequently give us our best shot,” Jones said. “It’s unlikely since we don’t have any potential trade pending – not pending, but in the mill — it’s unlikely that you’d have a veteran quarterback that could get back in here and be ready to play as well as those guys can play, even if you thought you might have a talent advantage.”
The Cowboys may not have many options for trades unless the San Francisco 49ers willing to move Jimmy Garoppolo. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said they’ll “listen to anybody on anything.”
There aren’t many major free agents; Cam Newton remains the most notable name on the open market.
After Prescott’s ankle injury, Dallas went 4-7 without him in 2020. Rush, however, led America’s Team in a win over the Minnesota Vikings in Rush’s only career start.
Rush will start Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, as no reinforcements are expected.
