Dak Prescott, the Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback, could be back sooner than initially thought.
Tom Pelissero from NFL Network says Prescott could be back in four to six weeks, depending on how his thumb heals. While the timeline depends on how the bone heals and doctors remain optimistic, Prescott is a speed healer.
Prescott could returnĀ in October’s middle, instead of at the end.
The 4- to 6-week timeline would have Dak Prescott back before the Week 9 bye, perhaps even as soon as an NFC East showdown on Oct. 16 at Philadelphia.
For now, the plan is to roll with Cooper Rush starting Sunday against the #Bengals. https://t.co/Pfd7wrYw2R

This is great news because it means the Cowboys can still compete for the NFC East title.
Cooper Rush will be the starting quarterback until Prescott becomes fully healthy. In case Rush is hurt, the Cowboys may also consider adding a third quarterback.
When the Cowboys take on the Cincinnati Bengals, Sept. 18, the Cowboys will be looking to improve their season record to 1-1.
Kickoff will take place at 4:25 p.m. ET
