The Kansas City Chiefs reportedly hired his replacement shortly after Matt Ammendola’s Sunday performance.
“The Chiefs are signing former Jaguars K Matthew Wright to their practice squad, per source,” ESPN’s Field Yates tweeted. “He replaces Matt Ammendola as the insurance to Harrison Butker, who has missed the past two games due to an ankle injury.”

Wright, a 26-year old kicker, was not drafted from Central Florida.
In 2020, he joined the Pittsburgh Steelers and played in three games. He also made all of his field goals and scored seven extra points.
He played in 13 games last season with Jacksonville, where he converted 24-of27 field goals and 13 of 15 extra points.
The Chiefs will be looking for Wright (or another kicker), to keep the fort in place until Butker returns.
