Jerry Jones, Dallas Cowboys owner shared his team’s plans for making any moves ahead of the NFL trade deadline. The Dallas owner stated that they don’t plan to make any moves before the deadline and are content with their current team makeup. However, there is one caveat.
Jones stated that Dallas will not make any moves before the Nov. 1, deadline unless a player such as Deion Sanders is available.
Jerry Jones said that he didn’t see Dallas making any trades before the deadline. “I don’t expect a deal.”
Jones added the reason he would consider trade offers this season — if someone offered to deal an elite talent.
“He said if they could get a player of the magnitude of Deion Sanders, he’d be all in,” explained The Athletic‘s Jon Machota.
Jones’ hesitation to trade this season is hard to ignore. Dallas has one of the best rosters in the NFL, and it’s not difficult to see why. Dallas boasts a strong defense, solid special teams play and an offense that features stars such as Tony Pollard, CeeDee lamb, and Ezekiel Elliott.
The roster’s weakest spot seems to be their depth at wide receiver and secondary. However, unless a player worth trading by all league teams is available on the trading block — Dallas appears happy to ride this roster to potential playoff berths.
Despite early injuries setbacks, the Cowboys’ impressive record of 5-2 this season may not be enough to win an NFC East title. Dallas currently sits in third place in the conference with the fourth-best record, after Philadelphia’s bye week and New York Giants’ win on Sunday.
