After Sunday’s report linking the team with the wide receiver free agent, the Dallas Cowboys were mentioned as possible landing spots for Odell Beckham Jr.
During Monday’s media availability in Dallas, Mike McCarthy, the head coach of Dallas was asked about Beckham. His response was quite interesting.
Michael Gehlken from the Dallas Morning News reported that McCarthy stated that the team loves their receiver group as it is, but that he has been a big fan of Beckham’s and has heard many excellent things about him.
Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said “we really love our receiver group.” But with free agent WR Odell Beckham, “I’ve always been a huge fan of his. …I’ve just heard so many excellent, excellent things about him.”

According to reports, the Cowboys almost landed Brandin Cooks from Houston when they tried to add a wide receiver. According to Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Beckham is now their preferred wide receiver.
“The Cowboys have WR Odell Beckham Jr in their sights, sources say,” Rapoport tweeted. “After attempting to acquire a speedy WR before the trade deadline, Dallas turns its focus to the top FA available.”
Jay Glazer of FOX reported yesterday that Beckham could be cleared to start play by the end this week. This has sparked a potential “bidding battle” for the veteran playmaker.
Beckham is out of action this season due to the injury he sustained in February’s Los Angeles Rams Super Bowl win.
