Skip Bayless gets hammered on social media for comments about Dak’s depression

Skip Bayless is going to need a bodyguard because the general public is not happy.

In a recent interview, Prescott discussed his brother’s suicide for the first time. Prescott’s brother, Jace, was 31 when he took his own life in April. According to Dak, this opened up a wave of depression.

FS1’s Skip Bayless openly questioned Prescott’s ability to be a leader, while he admitted that he suffers from depression.

“Because of all that, I don’t have sympathy for him going public that ‘I got depressed. I suffered depression early in COVID to the point that I couldn’t even go work out,’” Bayless said on Undisputed on Thursday. “Look, he’s the quarterback of America’s Team. You know and I know, this sport that you play, it is dog eat dog. It is no compassion. No quarter given on the football field. If you reveal publicly any little weakness, it can affect your team’s ability to believe in you in the toughest spots and it definitely could encourage others on the other side to come after you.”

On Twitter, major media writers and bloggers blasted Bayless. He was called “shameful,” “a fraudulent actor,” and was accused of saying these comments to click bait the audience.

David Helman of dallascowboys.com took it one step further on Twitter.

“Dak Prescott basically said: I’m a human being, I can be vulnerable at times. It’s been a really hard year for me, & I want to normalize mental wellness & admitting when we aren’t OK. And Skip Bayless basically said: nah, toxic masculinity is the way for me b/c football. Clown.”

In the end, Prescott responded to these comments later that afternoon. Prescott stated that he does not want to hide from his mental health.

“No, I think that’s a fake leader. Being a leader is about being genuine and being real,” Dak said via Cowboys reporter Jori Epstein of USA Today.

Who knows what Bayless was truly trying to say….
