Cowboys Fans Won’t Like Mike McCarthy’s Comment On Mike Nolan

Despite owning the worst defense in the league, you don’t want to make a change?

The Cowboys were outplayed 25-3 by the Washington Football Team, and the defense did not look like a team again.

Despite having some big names on defense in Everson Griffen, DeMarcus Lawrence, Jaylon Smith, and Leighton Vander Esch, the Cowboys own the worst scoring defense in the NFL. Going into Sunday, at 36 points per game, the Cowboys had allowed 30 or more points in five straight games.

Altogether, the Cowboys tied an NFL record last Monday for most consecutive games of allowing 34 or more points. The Cowboys have allowed 34 or more points to the Browns, Cardinals, Falcons, Giants, and Seahawks.

The lowest of lows was allowing 49 points to the Cleveland Browns at AT&T Stadium. Even the 1-5 Giants scored 34 points on the Cowboys.

Going into Sunday, by allowing  36.3 points per game, the Cowboys were the worst scoring defense in the NFL. Despite the struggles, head coach Mike McCarthy is not willing to write off defensive coordinator Mike Nolan according to ESPN’s Todd Archer.

Asked if it was appropriate to even consider a change from defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, Mike McCarthy said, “It hasn’t crossed my mind. I’m focused on getting better each and every day. So, you know, that’s where we are.”

This is quite the opposite approach for how the media thinks this situation should be handled. When the Cowboys trailed 22-3 at halftime, FS1’s Colin Cowherd took a shot at defensive coordinator Mike Nolan and McCarthy.

“Jerry Jones — you made a huge mistake and it happens to everyone — time to blow out the coaching staff and start over,” Cowherd tweeted.

McCarthy is likely going to stay, but Nolan’s seat has to be warm after that loss.
