CeeDee Lamb announces his number for 2020 season
Just days after Jerry Jones made a grand gesture, CeeDee Lamb changed course.
Before Lamb had even played a down of football for the Dallas Cowboys, the owner wanted to give his new receiver No. 88 according to Jon Machota of The Athletic.
“Jerry Jones said he would like CeeDee Lamb to wear No. 88, following in the Cowboys WR footsteps of Dez Bryant, Michael Irvin and Drew Pearson.”
Thursday was a victory for the Cowboys as the team never dreamed of Lamb falling to them. Instead, the Raiders drafted Henry Ruggs II, while the Broncos took Jerry Jeudy, which allowed the Cowboys to take Lamb at No. 17 overall.
According to 105.3 The Fan’s Jeff Cavanaugh, Lamb will wear No. 10 this season.
“”Yeah we rockin 10 this year” – CeeDee Lamb says that’ll be his jersey number with the Cowboys.”
At Oklahoma, Lamb wore No. 2, which is worn by Cowboys kicker Greg Zuerlein. Lamb decided he will switch it up by wearing No. 10.
Lamb, the 6-foot-2, 192-pound wideout from Oklahoma, rounds out the receiving corps with Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup. The combination of the three ranks right up there as the best trio in the league.
Coming into the draft, Lamb was pegged as one of the best receivers in this class. Last season, Lamb caught 62 receptions for 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns.
One has to wonder if it is too much pressure to wear No. 88. Then again, it leaves the door open for Dez Bryant to return. He wants back, and his number is waiting for him.
