The Cowboys were hit hard by James Washington’s fractured foot during training camp. This will keep him out of action for six to ten weeks.
Jerry Jones, Cowboys owner, said that although Washington was injured, there was no need to sign an experienced receiver. CeeDee Lamb (wide receiver) echoed Jones’ thoughts earlier this week but added that experience would be helpful.
Lamb stated, “We can play out it for a while,” . “I don’t mind having another vet here. I don’t mind having some help. But I like my young guys right now. “I want to see their potential.”
Names such as Odell Beckham, Will Fuller and T.Y. Hilton, Emmanuel Sanders and Cole Beasley, former Cowboys receiver, are all available on the open market. The Cowboys will instead continue to rely on their draft picks as well as their in-house talent, at least for now.
Dallas has other intriguing options for receivers than Lamb, though they are not yet proven. Jalen Tolbert is the Cowboys third-round pick and will take over the WR2 position until Michael Gallup recovers from his torn ACL. He suffered it on Week 17. T. J. Vasher is 6’6 and has made a strong case for a roster spot. He was on the practice squad last season, where he caught Kelvin Joseph with one hand.
KaVontae Turpin is the 2022 USFL MVP. He stands just 5-foot-7 and is barely 160lbs. His speed and springy legs could be a weapon in the return game, which is led by the USFL with 15.3 yards per kick return in 2022.

No matter what happens to those three guys, Lamb must be the best player in the passing game. Kellen Moore, the offensive coordinator, must make Lamb a central point of the offense. This will allow Gallup to benefit from the attention he gets.
Lamb was the Cowboys’ second choice in yards (1102), targets (120), receptions (79) and yards per catch (13.9). It was therefore unfathomable that Lamb only received five targets and caught one pass in the Cowboys’ playoff defeat to the San Francisco 49ers. Moore is being indicted and that’s something that won’t happen this year.
