Chiefs First Round Target Meeting With Saints and Packers Expected Create Frenzy on Draft Day

The First-Team All-American has met with many teams according to The Baltimore Sun’s Aaron Wilson.

“Ohio State RB J.K. Dobbins video conferences with Texans, Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers, Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, New Orleans Saints, Miami Dolphins.”

Originally, NFL Insider Field Yates was one that supported the Chiefs could be linked to taking the former Buckeyes running back.

“One position that some believe would be worth even more investment on offense for the Chiefs would be running back. A pairing that seems to make sense is Ohio State’s J.K. Dobbins if he’s available at pick 32. He’s a player they’ve FaceTimed with. One of the draft’s top backs.”

Dobbins rushed for 2,003 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2019. The Chiefs have Damien Williams listed as the No. 1 running back, but haven’t had a clear face at the position since Kareem Hunt departed.

The Saints hold the No. 24 pick, the Packers hold the No. 30 pick, while the Chiefs have the No. 32 pick. Aaron Jones is going to be asking for a pay day soon, so it’s unclear that the Packers would want to spend their first-round pick on a running back, especially when the team needs a wide receiver. Saints are in the same boat with Alvin Kamara.

The Detroit Lions, for now, have the No. 3 pick and wouldn’t draft Dobbins that high. The Bills just drafted Devin Singletary and have no reason to give up on him just yet.

The real contender for Dobbins is  the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins have three first round picks: No. 5, No. 18, and No. 26. After hurting at running back last year, the team could use either pick.

The Chiefs can just hope he falls to them at this point.
