According to Albert Breer, the New York Giants will interview Dan Quinn, Dallas Cowboys’ defensive coach, for their head coaching job. After leading one of the most significant defensive turnarounds in league history, he’s been one of the most sought-after coaching commodities in the NFL.
While the Cowboys were beaten by the 49ers during their playoff matchups, what Dan Quinn did for Dallas defense in the 2021-2022 season was remarkable.
The Cowboys had the worst defense in the NFL. They allowed a record 473 points in 2020, which was a year ago. Dallas had also the worst run defense in league, allowing just 159 yards per game in a 6-10 campaign during Mike McCarthy’s first season.
The Cowboys were 12-5 overall during the 2021-2022 season and won the NFC East, their first win since 2018. Dallas was the league’s leader in interceptions (26) and takeaways (34), and they were also second in getting off the field (34%).
Quinn was also a key part of the success and growth of Trevon Diggs, Dallas corner, and Micah Parsons, linebacker, respectively, in 2021-2022.
Although he’s not the typical case of a feast corner, he certainly feasted a lot this season. Diggs took 11 interceptions, which is the most ever by a player in league history. This was 40 years ago. This, ladies and gentlemen, is simply amazing.
According to media outlets, Quinn also assisted Micah Parsons in his NFL Defensive win. The NFL will officially hand the hardware in a few weeks at their NFL honors awards ceremony. Parsons was an unstoppable force of nature in 2021-2022. He racked up 84 tackles and 13 sacks as well as 20 tackles for losses in 16 games.
It was a bittersweet end for the Dallas Cowboys season, but fans should remember the remarkable turnaround their defense made from last season to this season.
It’s clear that Dan Quinn was an integral part of this, and that’s why he was receiving head coaching offers from other league teams like the Minnesota Vikings .
Micah Parsons stated that he hopes to stay with the franchise. We will have to wait to see where the future takes the Dallas franchise, and Dan Quinn. But the turnaround he made in 2021-2022 won’t be forgotten.
