The Cowboys’ early playoff exit last year was another disappointment. They haven’t advanced past the divisional round in the playoffs since 1995, when they won the Super Bowl. Dallas lost to San Francisco’s wild card round. This dropped quarterback Dak Preston to 1-3 in his postseason career record since joining the team in 2016.
After suffering an ankle injury last season that forced him to miss the majority of last season’s, Prescott threw for a record 37 touchdowns in this season. He also threw for 4,449 yards and 10 interceptions. Prescott was signed to a four year extension by the Cowboys worth $164 million. They put their faith in him for long-term success. Dallas retained its quarterback but lost its Pro Bowl receiver Amari cooper, and its defensive end Randy Gregory in this offseason.
Dallas also had some talent in the 2022 NFL Draft. They spent their first three picks to draft offensive tackle Tyler Smith and edge defender Sam Williams, as well as receiver Jalen Tolbert. The Cowboys are once again a contender when you add that to their offense, which already features Prescott and running back Ezekiel Ell_.
