The Dallas Cowboys had a need for wide receivers and the team hopes that Jalen Tolbert, a South Alabama star, can help them next season. Tolbert expressed excitement about his chance to join the Cowboys, and stressed that he was “coming down there in order to win a Super Bowl.”
Jalen Tolbert, Cowboy Nation: In a video released to the Cowboys, Tolbert stated that he cannot wait to go to The Star to get to work and earn his star on his helmet. I’m looking forward coming down to continue to change the culture and winning a Super Bowl.
Dallas was in desperate need of wideout after Amari Cooper was traded and Cedrick Wilson was released. Dak Prescott has another target in the Dallas offense with the 6’1” and 194-pound receiver. Tolbert took to Twitter to celebrate his joining the Cowboys.

Tolbert was the recipient of eight touchdowns and more than 1,000 yards receiving in two consecutive seasons at South Alabama. He had 82 receptions and 1,474 yards of receiving in 2021.
NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein sees similarities between Tolbert, and Marvin Jones, a long-time Jaguars wide receiver. Tolbert was graded by Zierlein in the second to third round.
Zierlein described Zierlein as a “silky smooth athlete that has transformed into a monster in the past two seasons.” “Tolbert is a solid character prospect and has skill elements that are full of NFL potential. He worked hard for everyone he encountered, even the SEC coverage corners at Tennessee. His experience in three sports gives him unique insight and allows him to win camp battles. His talent, production, and traits should propel him up the ranks. He could also be a top-flight WR2 by boosting his competitive spirit.
Will McClay, Cowboys vice-president of player personnel, referred to Tolbert’s versatility among the most intriguing traits. Tolbert met quarterback Dak Prescott days before the draft and began to build a relationship. Washington will likely be competing with Tolbert to become Dallas’ third receiver, following CeeDee Lamb or Michael Gallup.
McClay stated that Jalen Tolbert is a wide receiver who can play multiple positions during the April 29 team press conference. He’s a big receiver with a lot of intelligence. We found him to be very appealing because of his versatility.
