Anew NFL head-coaching job is available. It’s connected to Kellen Moore, Dallas Cowboys Offensive Coordinator.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Michael Gehlken, Moore was a “prototypical” fit for the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team, which not-so-surprisingly fired HC Urban Meyer on Wednesday December 15.
Gehlken tweeted “Talented, young quarterback whom to develop” referring to Jacksonville Trevor Lawrence, the No. 1 overall pick. “Patient owner. Place where an even, easy-going temperament would be embraced. Jacksonville can request permission for virtual interview as early as Dec. 28 at 8 a.m. CT.”
Meyer, a legendary Ohio State player, was unable to make it into the major leagues. The entire experiment failed from Meyer’s questionable roster-building methods to his extramarital canoodling with young bar-goers up to his dressing down of his “loser” assistants.
Ex-Jaguars kicker Josh Lambo revealed that Meyer had assaulted him prior to a preseason match this summer.
“I’m in a lunge position. Left leg forward, right leg back,” Lambo told the Tampa Bay Times in a piece published December 15. “… Urban Meyer, while I’m in that stretch position, comes up to me and says, ‘Hey dips—, make your f—ing kicks!’ And kicks me in the leg.”
Lambo said, “It certainly wasn’t as hard as he could’ve done it, but it certainly wasn’t a love tap,” It was a five out of ten, truthfully. It doesn’t matter if it’s football, the boss cannot strike an employee. It was so unbelievable that it happened for me. Pardon me for my vulgarity. I asked him if he would ever f-king kick him again. His response was that he was the head coach and would kick him whenever he wanted.
Shad Khan, Jacksonville’s owner, announced that Meyer was no longer employed by the organization. He also named OC Darrell Bevell HC.
Khan stated, via Pro Football Talk. “After much deliberation and an in-depth analysis of Urban’s tenure with the team, I am deeply disappointed to come to the conclusion that an urgent change is necessary for everyone.” Urban was informed of this change by me tonight. It was crucial to regain our trust and respect, as I had stated in October. It didn’t happen unfortunately.
Moore is a coach who is consistently ranked among the best in football. He returned to his Cowboys post in 2021 after flirting at openings at Boise State and the Philadelphia Eagles.
In November, Moore, a 33-year-old was forced to confirm his professional commitment after reports claimed he had reached Texas Christian University to fill the vacancy. Moore resigned and denied any interest in possible HC positions.
