On Monday night, the Dallas Cowboys won their second consecutive win against the New York Giants without Dak Prescott.
They defeated the Giants 23-16 at MetLife Stadium to improve their record to 2-1 overall. They are just one game away from first place going into their Week 4 matchup with the Washington Commanders.
There was also a bit of history to this win. Cooper Rush, the backup quarterback, is now 3-0 and has become the third quarterback in franchise history who has won the first three starts.
What about the other two quarterbacks who have achieved this feat? Roger Staubach, the legendary head coach, and Jason Garrett, former head coach.
With the win tonight, Cooper Rush is now 3-0 as a starting quarterback and became the third quarterback in franchise history to win the first three starts of his career, joining Roger Staubach (1969-70) and Jason Garrett (1993-98).

Since Prescott was replaced by Rush, Rush has been everything that the Cowboys wanted him to be. He’s thrown for 450 yards, two touchdowns and has taken care of the football in two games.
Prescott may give him at least one more chance to start before he is ready to return.
The kickoff for the Commanders-Cowboys is at 1 p.m. ET.
