Jerry Jones recently backed off an earlier commitment to place Jimmy Johnson in the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor.
Interview with NBC 5’s Newy Cruggs: Cowboys owner said it was “BS” for anyone to be upset about the delay. He added, “There’s a lot to think about here than Jimmy.”
“I’ve got a lot of other lives out here that have laid a lot on the line on the field that need to be in that Ring of Honor as well,” Jones said. “And so how I do that, what I do it with, I get to make that decision. And it isn’t at the end of the day all tailored around whether Jimmy is sniveling or not.”
Dan Le Batard read Jones comments to Johnson on Thursday. Johnson burst into giggles before pondering his word choice.
“I had to look up that word in the dictionary,” Johnson said. “I don’t know that I’ve ever sniveled. Do you ever remember me sniveling? No way.”

Merriam Webster defines the verb “snivel” as “to speak, act, or whine in a sniffling, tearful or weakly emotion manner.”
Jones stated that Johnson would be in the Ring of Honor last year after both men joined a FOX panel. The head coach was prompted to ask “while I am alive?”
Le Batard asked Johnson whether he thinks he will ever see his induction. Johnson replied that he “never could tell.” The two-time Super Bowl champ isn’t worried about the Dallas Ring of Honor snub after being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Jones refused in June to give Johnson his long-overdue recognition. Jones isn’t in a hurry to end the feud with his former coach, who left after the team won back-to-back championships in 1992 and 1993.
