Mike McCarthy, Cowboys’ head coach, doesn’t know the exact time frame for Dak Prescott but knows that Dallas’ quarterback will need more time.
Per Michael Gehlken from the Dallas Morning News
“… Mike McCarthy said QB Dak Prescott (thumb) ‘still has some swelling he has to deal with’ now that stitching is removed. Once swelling down, it becomes about strength. And then throwing. ‘I do not have a timeline for when he will start throwing.’”

Jane Slater, NFL Network’s reporter, reported that Dak had shown her his hand Monday night and there wasn’t any swelling. Slater said that Dak told her it was possible that he could play Week 5 against the Rams.
The Cowboys need to get him back on the field as soon as possible. Cooper Rush, a veteran backup, has been able to hold down the fort well over the past few weeks.
