The Dallas Cowboys will be preparing for the playoffs within a few weeks. In a talented NFC they could very well find themselves playing in close games. Greg Zuerlein may be the difference between winning or losing.
McCarthy sang Zuerlein’s praises during a media session mid-week ahead of Dallas’ regular season finale against Philadelphia Eagles in Week 18. McCarthy complimented Zuerlein’s talents and expressed confidence in his ability to pass the ball to his kicker when the game was on the line.
McCarthy stated Wednesday that he believes that Zuerlein is not only an experienced, veteran kicker but also a phenomenally talented kicker. Per Jon Machota . He can do all the kicks. He knows what we should do to move forward. He is a man I have great faith in.”
Mike McCarthy on Cowboys kicker Greg Zuerlein: “I think he’s not only a veteran, experienced kicker, but I think he’s a tremendously talented kicker. He can make all the kicks. He recognizes what we need to do moving forward. I obviously have great confidence in him.”

Zuerlein is a 2017 Pro Bowler who was also a former Rams sixth-round selection. He has been consistent with the Cowboys in his two years of service. The 34-year old had already drilled 11 of his previous field goals, up until the miss against the Arizona Cardinals.
Zuerlein is currently 28-for-34 in field goals (82.4%) and 36-of-40 on extra points (87.8%) for the year. These marks place him at the top of the league when compared with other kickers.
If the Cowboys are to make it out of the NFC, Zuerlein will be a necessity. They have played in eight one-score games so far this season. Every point against teams like the Green Packers or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be counted and Dallas’ kicker will have an opportunity to make a significant contribution.
