With a win of 24-6 over the Detroit Lions, the Dallas Cowboys returned to winning ways. They’ll be entering Week 8 with a new defense player, emphasis on big.
The Cowboys made a trade for Johnathan Hankins, the Raiders’ defensive tackle. This will strengthen their interior defensive line. McCarthy spoke to the media Wednesday to express his delight at the addition of Hankins to the Cowboys and said that he believes players like him make the team great.
“Well, we can’t have enough of the Neville Gallimores, Hankins, all these guys. You cannot have enough big men in your building.”
Hankins, a 30-year-old veteran of 10 years, has struggled to get started in the new year. In seven weeks, he has played five games and recorded 10 tackles as well as one QB hit.
Mike McCarthy when asked about how the addition of DT Johnathan Hankins impacts DT Neville Gallimore, who was inactive (coach’s decision) last week: “Well, we can’t have enough of the Neville Gallimores, Hankins, all these guys. You cannot have enough big men in your building.”

Johnathan Hankins, at his best, can be disruptive in the middle and cause nightmares for both quarterbacks as well as running backs.
Hankins has had 366 tackles in 133 career games. He also has 36 tackles for loss, 47 QB hits, and 36 tackles for good. Hankins also has 14.5 tackles, 10 passes defense, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveryies.
The Dallas Cowboys have the No. The league’s No. 2 defense, but the Cowboys would love to add a player capable if such strong production.
In the coming weeks, will Hankins play an important role in Cowboys defense?
