Mike McCarthy reveals team’s focus for matchup with Eagles

It’s hard to stay focused when you are losing.

At 2-5 and two blowout losses later, the Dallas Cowboys ship is sinking fast. Mike McCarthy already looks like a “fired head coach” candidate after just seven games. Nothing has gone right in his tenure.

Granted, the team has been decimated by injuries, but the defense is terrible and Andy Dalton looks like a JV quarterback. Losing Dak hurts, but the former Bengal should not be this terrible.

Despite all of this, the Cowboys are just 0.5 games back of the 2-4-1 Philadelphia Eagles. Guess who plays on Sunday? The Cowboys and the Eagles.

If the Cowboys can defeat Philly, the team will take control of the NFC East. With a bit of adversity in his place, McCarthy detailed the team’s focus when he spoke with reporters on Monday afternoon.

“#Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy says “Attitude and style of play” is their primary focus this week.”

The tweet was sent out by Cowboys insider Jane Slater, who recently reported some turmoil developing in the Cowboys locker room.

Last week, the Cowboys were blown out 38-10 on Monday Night Football to the Arizona Cardinals.

After the game, NFL Network’s Jane Slater reported that many players on the roster are slamming the coaching staff. “Totally unprepared,” an anonymous player on the Cowboys told Slater. “They don’t teach. They don’t have any sense of adjusting on the fly.”

Slater also reported that players are slamming the coaching staff, stating “the coaches are not good at their jobs.”

We’ll see what kind of attitude is displayed on Week 8.
