This week, there has been much speculation about Mike McCarthy’s future at the Dallas Cowboys. It seems like he will be returning for the 2022 season.
McCarthy was interviewed on Thursday morning’s 105.3 he was asked if he spoke with Jerry Jones about his job status. His response was quite telling.
McCarthy stated, via Jon Machota from The Athletic. “Obviously, we discussed the disappointment in the game. “… We discussed everything that was needed to be said.”
Based on that response, McCarthy doesn’t seem to be moving.
Mike McCarthy when asked on @1053thefan this morning if he talked with Jerry Jones about his job status: “I’m full speed ahead. Obviously we talked about the disappointment of the game. … We talked about everything that needed to be talked about.” https://t.co/zVVYcRuSan

McCarthy already admitted that dealing with speculation such as this is only a part.
McCarthy stated, via Todd Archer, ESPN, “I think it’s acceptable for people in the profession,” It’s part of the job. That’s what I understand. I get why you are asking that question. It’s part of my job. You have a job, and I have one here today: answering your questions in a respectful and appropriate manner. It’s true that I don’t put too much into it, but I do know what I put in.
McCarthy’s guidance made the Cowboys a lot more progress this season but they were not supposed to be finished in the playoffs.
McCarthy’s failure to lead the Cowboys into playoff success next season could mean McCarthy’s seat gets very warm.
