The Dallas Cowboys has not made much in the NFL’s 2022 free agency period. But that could change very soon.
One analyst believes that the Dallas Cowboys could sign four-time Pro Bowler in a free agency. Brian Martin from Blogging the Boys created a list of three top free agents that the Cowboys should target and Anthony Barr, a 30-year-old linebacker, was included.
“Anthony Barr is a player who has been linked to the Cowboys already on numerous occasions,” says Martin. “With questionable depth outside of Micah Parsons and Leighton Vander Esch, Barr not only fills a need, but upgrades the position substantially. His ability to play against the run, drop in pass coverage, or rush the passer would make him yet another versatile chess piece for Dan Quinn to deploy in a multitude of ways.”
Barr’s play level is not as high as it was when he was at his peak, but he still remains a respected linebacker.
“It shouldn’t take long for Anthony Barr to find a home, especially since his skillset meshes so well with the Dallas Cowboys’ needs this offseason,” Carr wrote.
“When healthy, the 6’5″, 257-pound playmaker can line up and make an impact at several positions. The Cowboys would have the option to deploy him as an extra pass-rusher on the edge or in a more traditional linebacker role.”
The Minnesota Vikings have been his home for the past eight seasons. He ended the 2021 season with 72 total tackles (38 solo), 2.5sacks, three fumble recoveries and three interceptions. Five passes were defended. He had three interceptions last year, which was a record.
