Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott will soon enter the final year of his contract. However, he could get a new one sooner rather than later.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported over the weekend that the Cowboys would begin working on a contract that “should make (Prescott) once again one of the highest paid quarterbacks in NFL”.
Prescott’s cap, currently set at 60 million dollars for 2024, is the reason why Dallas feels compelled to sign a new contract. Dallas will not be able to engage in free agency if they don’t lower that number by extending the contract.
Rapoport said that Rapoport expects the Cowboys to make a deal with Dak Prescott in some shape or form before the Cowboys’ free agency. He can’t be tagged in the off-season, as he is entering the final year of the contract. So a deal must be made for Dallas.
Prescott is enjoying a great season financially, after having one of his best seasons in eight years.

The big money will increase the pressure for the three-time Pro Bowler. Prescott has been blamed by many Cowboys fans for the Cowboys’ latest postseason failure.
After the team’s loss in the playoffs, even Dak’s own brother posted on social media that he wished Dak would leave America’s Team.
Tad Prescott wrote: “Cowboy Fans, why do you keep DMing me? TRUST ME. If I could convince Dak to leave Dallas, I would.” “I also want him to leave Dallas.” He and his family have had a great experience with the city and the organization, but they are done with drama, and so-called fans. But he loves this Team, and wants it to win rings.
Rapaport’s information suggests that he will have at least some more chances to win a ring in the Cowboys’ organization.
