The 2022 head coach cycle was the most popular with Dan Quinn. The Cowboys’ defensive coordinator was interviewed by several teams for positions with the New York Giants and Chicago Bears, as well as the Denver Broncos.
Quinn decided that it was not the right time to be a head coach again. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Quinn has informed team he’s still with Dallas.
“Dan Quinn informed teams that he is staying with the Cowboys,” Pelissero said. Quinn was asked by six teams to interview their head coaches. He decided that he wanted to go back to Dallas to try and win the Super Bowl. Quinn should be a hot player again next year.
Quinn was expected take over a new franchise due to his extensive experience as a head coach and the revival of Dallas’ defense. The timing was not right, however.
The Cowboys will still be pleased to have Dan Quinn back in their team for another season.
Although Dan Quinn was a qualified candidate, the jobs that he was most interested were in other directions.
Quinn was first linked to the Denver Broncos. The franchise decided to hire Nathaniel Hackett, Green Bay Packers’ offensive coordinator. All eyes now will be on a possible move that would see Aaron Rodgers join the Denver Broncos.
The Bears then began to search for their next head coach and chose Matt Eberflus, an Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator, as their new leader. The Bears have chosen Eberflus, a new head coach for their team, instead of Quinn, a veteran defensive coach.
Quinn was also reported to be interested in the New York Giants opening. The franchise will likely choose between Brian Daboll, the Buffalo Bills’ offensive coordinator, and Brian Flores, the former Miami Dolphins coach. Quinn, the Dallas defensive coordinator, will instead face the Giants twice per season.
Although Dan Quinn did not get a job as a head coach in 2022, he will be a popular candidate for the position again next season. Dallas will continue to have Quinn as their defensive coach for the foreseeable future.
